This is a picture was selected to draw with pastel for the personality of the person within picture and the unique challenge to the picture and the happy smile and the glow in his face. And to find the emotions that ascent of the picture and how happy he is dancing around in rubber boots. That the give the unique charter to it. I like to study the different muscle and bone pattern within the figure. And the facial expressions to the face in the mouth and eyes which are key the picture.  The green background which make the picture come out and alive that involve you.

Boy playing on the bed

This is a “20”x”24” painting I have done in March of 2012. This painting is the first painting, where I have learned something new in my painting technique. This is the first painting where I have learned to do layering, that is how to put one small thin layer upon another. Giving it a better realism to it. Which tack much longer to do, but has a better result. This painting has pattern within the background, that really like to do. Because it can bring out the figure, showing more motion within the painting. Specially where the back line square on the green blanket meets the boy figure in the painting. I like the facial expression which always make the painting and show more movement in the figure. The eyes and face which always end the painting.

Emily first day at the pool

This oil painting is where lighting that makes all the different. You have a shadow behind the figure, which brings out the figure giving it a more 3-D look to it. The carpet is one of more hard things to paint, because getting all the small patter within the carpet to have that look of a carpet. When I do something like this. I will do experiment after experiment trying to find the right color in the right way. Starting with some land mark color for the first layer and build upon that, color by color and layer upon until I have the look I want. Moving to the straight line of the wall, which will draw you in the painting to a dark point in the painting. That will make the figure come out more. The pattern of each part of the background show more movement within the painting. The pattern of the bathing suit was a real changeling to get all the color of dark and light, with the leaf and flower just right. I always like to pay good attention to the wrinkle pattern, because that where the realism come in to play. And eyes and a good face, which always make a good painting.

Girl playing with bubbles

This is a picture where I have a minimum background. The background is kept very simple to keep the focus on the figure. The green yellow grass of the background and the pink outfit, which are opposite on the color wheel bring out contrast in the picture. The bubbles to the left of the brings out action in the picture, to bring you the face. The face which show real emotion, with a great happy smile with laughter. The design and pattern of the clothing where painted to show motion in the figure. I pay special attention to the wrinkle pattern to show movement. The details of flowers of her dress, show a more realism movement to it. The sandals which seats the figure down to the picture. The arms legs which fill the picture and move you around the picture giving the emotions of the picture.

A girl in her Easter dress

Within the picture, I have made the background simplified, to make your attention only on the figure. I put some green iridescent green color into it, show out the dress more clearly. And a simple shadow to seat the figure. The face has a unique emotional smile, with those big great eyes that look straight at you. The twisted arms show a personality to it. I like to start with the face first then down to the arms and finely legs and feet. The last the dress and sandals. I start with large brush to get land mark colors in the picture. This will show me where to go next. With the small brushes to get more details. I will paint with smaller and smaller brushes to get more and more detail in the picture. I will pay special attention to the wrinkle pattern to get the flow of the dress just right. With the purple trim of the dress and sandals to tie in the picture.
